Different Strategies to Manage Your Digital Footprint
How can I manage my digital footprint to reflect the person that I am?
Check your Privacy Settings
Always an excellent idea to read and understand the privacy settings when using social media, to ensure that what is private stays private. Certain websites have default settings that may reveal too much, hence; double-checking your privacy settings can come to great use.
Create Strong and unforgettable passwords
Create passwords with a combination of numbers, symbols, and upper and lower case letters. Avoid everyday words and phrases. A strong password can ensure that your personal information is stored securely and a lowered chance of being hacked.
Question youself before posting
Before posting, question yourself whether it may come across as inappropriate, offensive, or unfriendly if viewed by anyone. Question each post as if you were going to show your parents for a teacher. Would they be concerned about it? Would they question why? This is an important step towards not building a negative digital footprint of yourself. You always want to leave a positive message.
