What is Digital Permanence?
Doesn't what I delete stay permanently deleted?
What is Digital Permanence?

Digital permanence quite, unfortunately, is the truth. Digital permanence is the mindset that any digital information on the internet is permanent. Information, even though deleted can be stored in other storages such as a user's camera roll or downloads. Reposts, downloading, and sharing have created an expectation that nothing is truly deleted from the web; therefore, when using the internet, you need to proceed with caution and with digital permanence in mind. Even though confirmed by the social media website itself that the post was deleted, the image can potentially be stored elsewhere.
Why should I care?
Digital permanence is important to take into consideration because the consequences of our actions on the internet may be permanent. With proper education, care, and strategies, however, we can overcome making regretful mistakes. Your digital footprint can very well decide future opportunities; therefore, you want to ensure that your online presence is nothing but positive!
